In our therapy, we work within a paradigm of contextual behavioural science: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy and related "third wave" cognitive-behavioural therapies including mindfulness oriented therapies. Attachment Theory informs our understanding of the causal origins of many long-standing and chronic psychological difficulties (eg, "personality disorders" and developmental trauma).

Each of our therapist has areas of special interest and expertise. Have a look at their profile under the "our practitioner" tab.

Where needs are complex or multi-faceted, we actively seek to work collaboratively with other health providers, schools and family members.

Neurotherapy

We offer traditional SMR (sensory motor rhythm) training which is helpful for attentional deficits, insomnia and seizure disorders; and Alpha-Theta training which helps alleviate trauma related symptoms, especially where the symptoms originate in early childhood traumas. Alpha-Theta training is also helpful for alcohol dependency and other addictions. We also offer LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback Systems) to help improve functioning in autism, learning disabilities and brain injury. We only offer Neurotherapy where other more conventional therapies have been tried and not helped, or where other therapies are unable to be tolerated. Neurofeedback tends to work globally, rather than symptom-specifically, to help overall functioning. A better tuned brain is a more reliable platform for life to be lived. We offer other forms of Neurotherapy often suitable for home training: Safe & Sound Protocol (5 hours of listening to engineered music), Audio-Visual Entertainment and Cranial Electrical Stimulation.

Fees

Fees for a standard consultation vary with each practitioner. The cost of our services may be subsidised if you have a Mental Health Care Plan and are referred by your GP, or if you have private health insurance. Some individuals may be able to access fully funded services through, for example, Workcover (SIRA), NSW Victims Services, NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme), DVA or ATAPS (Access to Allied Psychological Services). Please note that it is unusual for our practitioners to bulkbill.
